Let’s Make Music

Here’s something different for the dreaded “What I Did on Summer Vacation” essay — learned how to play a musical instrument!

Cedar Rapids school district fifth grade students can register for summer instrumental  music lessons at 6:30 p.m. May 18 at the middle school they will attend during the 2009-10 school year — Wilson, McKinley, Roosevelt, Franklin, Harding and Taft.

Instrumental music teachers will be on hand to visit with students and parents about obtaining an instrument and scheduling beginning lessons. Students may also sign-up for the instrument of their choice. 

Beginning lessons are taught during the summer. In the fall, students will continue playing as sixth graders in either the band or the orchestra of their middle school.
